This is a very striking variegated form of the glossy privet. It forms a medium-sized evergreen tree. The example in Belfast Botanic Gardens carries a mass of cream flowers each summer shown off by the yellow and cream leaves. The species comes from China, was introduced in 1794 and given an award of garden merit in 1965
