The tree tag number relates to the black tree-maintenance tags, usually fixed on the trunk, 2 to 3m above ground level.
This cypress is a variety of the Sawara cypress introduced from Japan by Robert Fortune in 1861. It forms a fairly small tree or large shrub, usually broader than it is high. Its long trailing branches with widely spaced side branches are distinctive. There are several golden-yellow varieties such as C. pisifera ‘Filifera Aurea’.
